Calibre Catalyst™

Calibre Catalyst is identified by the Institute of One World Leadership as protected IOWL intellectual property. The term may be referenced descriptively with appropriate attribution, but third parties must not adopt it as their own framework, programme, credential, product, service or branded concept, or reproduce or adapt the associated IOWL content, without written authorisation.

Define precisely

Protected terms are useful only when their definitions remain sufficiently precise to distinguish one IOWL concept from another.

Use accurately

Names, marks and recognition titles should not be altered or used to imply certification, partnership or authority that has not been granted.

Preserve the portfolio

Some marks remain protected even where IOWL's current public architecture now uses a newer or more precise expression.

An intellectual-property register, not a list of current products

The portfolio contains both current architecture and retained protected expressions. Inclusion protects and defines the IP; it does not by itself mean that every item is a currently available course, service, centre, credential or organisational recognition.

The register therefore separates core architecture, professional recognition, applied concepts, methods and systems and retained IP. That makes it possible to preserve earlier marks without allowing them to obscure the current Calibre architecture. Each protected term also has its own permanent public URL and search-engine metadata so that a person researching or considering a similar term can discover IOWL's prior protected concept and its usage conditions directly.

The ® symbol identifies marks presented by IOWL as registered. The ™ symbol identifies IOWL trademarked or proprietary expressions. Registration and enforceability can vary by mark and jurisdiction; the symbol itself should not be read as a statement that every ™ mark is registered everywhere.

Use and permission

Reference is different from reproduction. Accurate descriptive reference to an IOWL concept is not the same as copying its diagrams, definitions, course content or protected methodology.

Licensing, adaptation, co-branding, incorporation into external products or services, or use that could imply IOWL endorsement should be agreed with IOWL in writing.

The register defines and protects the individual terms. The deeper value lies in the way they operate together. IOWL therefore publishes a high-level explanation of the full developmental and recognition journey while deliberately protecting the detailed calibration, weighting, decision and implementation mechanics that would enable replication.

Independent scrutiny applies to IOWL's published standards, evidence, outcomes and research propositions. The protected methodology and implementation know-how are not publicly disclosed.

Use this reference when discussing IOWL concepts, sharing learning achievements or linking to our accounts. Hashtags identify a subject; account mentions identify the organisation or person.

IOWL-adopted hashtags

IOWL adopts the following spellings for its own communications and recommends them for accurate references to the corresponding concepts. Use #IOWL with the relevant concept tag. The principal tags are #IOWL, #PositiveValueLeadership and #CalibreCredits; use the latter when discussing assessed recognition.

These are communication identifiers. Listing a hashtag here does not register it as a trade mark, reserve it on a social platform, establish first use or claim exclusive ownership of a general topic. Preserve British spelling and word capitals for readability. Use Positive Value Leadership (singular) and Agentive Leadership. Omit spaces and trademark symbols inside hashtags; use the appropriate symbols with the full names in prose.

Definition

Calibre Catalyst™ is IOWL's protected designation for an approved practitioner who brings independent Positive Value Leadership™ learning to life through structured challenge, questioning, reflection, discussion and application. A Calibre Catalyst helps learners interrogate experience, surface assumptions, distinguish Capability, Competency and Calibre, and connect reflection to future judgement, conduct and values-led agency.

Relationship to the IOWL architecture

Where a pathway appears in brackets - for example Calibre Catalyst™ (Keystone) or Calibre Catalyst™ (Capstone) - the bracketed term identifies the practitioner's current approved pathway scope. Approval at one pathway does not imply approval at another. Shared Induction & Orientation and shared Tutorial 1 may also require separate core live-delivery approval because they can serve learners from more than one pathway. Use of the unqualified designation Calibre Catalyst™ is reserved for a practitioner approved across all IOWL pathways for which Calibre Catalyst authorisation applies at that time. Associate, Senior and Lead may be used as appointment or responsibility descriptors without changing the protected core designation.

  • Use Calibre Catalyst™ only for a practitioner formally approved by IOWL for the relevant live-delivery scope.
  • Use a bracketed pathway qualifier where approval is pathway-specific; do not omit the qualifier unless IOWL has granted full applicable portfolio approval.
  • Do not use Calibre Catalyst™ as a generic synonym for tutor, lecturer, facilitator, coach or external training provider.
  • The Calibre Catalyst brings approved IOWL independent learning to life and must not replace controlled IOWL content, terminology or architecture with a personal leadership model or unauthorised derivative material.

The defined scope of IOWL recognition

The IP register also protects meaning. These distinctions prevent IOWL marks from being used to make a stronger claim than the underlying evidence supports.

Calibre Credits carry a distinct assessed meaning

They are distinct units of assessed Calibre recognition awarded through GICI on eligible professional pathways.

Professional standing is earned

Registration or payment provides access to a process. The standing is earned only where the required learning and assessment standards are met.

Recognition records demonstrated standing at a point in development

An IOWL award records that defined standards were met at the applicable stage. PCD carries that evidence forward through continuing development, application and recalibration.

Retained marks remain protected without defining the current architecture

Terms such as Immutable Integrity™, Integrous Calibration™, IOWL LeaderChips™ and The Centre for Free Dialogue™ remain part of IOWL's protected IP portfolio. Their presence in the register does not mean they should replace the current public language used for assessment, PCD, recognition or the Free Dialogue™ initiative.

Attribution, reproduction and licensing

Most questions about IOWL IP are resolved by distinguishing ordinary reference from copying, adaptation or commercial incorporation.

Descriptive reference: where you accurately discuss an IOWL concept, identify it by its correct name and attribute it to the Institute of One World Leadership where appropriate.

Reproduction: diagrams, maps, course content, assessment material, definitions, protected methods, software interfaces and branded assets should not be copied or redistributed beyond an authorised context without permission.

Systems and methods: authorised access to an IOWL learning environment or demonstration is for the purpose granted. It does not by itself grant permission to benchmark protected IOWL workflows, reverse-engineer unpublished methods, derive functional specifications for another implementation, or disclose confidential implementation logic.

Adaptation or integration: embedding an IOWL framework, method or system architecture into a university curriculum, employer model, government toolkit, consultancy product, LMS, software platform or commercial service requires an appropriate written agreement.

Describe the mark, framework or asset you want to use, the intended audience, where it will appear, whether it will be altered, and whether the use is commercial, educational or institutional.
